Bobsleigh is a Winter Olympic event in which a two- or four-person team races down an ice track in a specially designed sled, with the winning team finishing the course in the quickest time. It is also known as bobsledding. Teams completed timed laps on snow downwards, turning and banking in ice tracks in a gravity-powered sled devised by Swiss in the 1860s.
The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Body (IBSF), formerly known as the Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT), is an international bobsleigh and skeleton sports federation.
